Digital preservation policies
Revista Ciencias de la Actividad Física UCM, through the Open Journal System software, is interested in moving towards a process of digital preservation.
For this reason, all articles are published in their digital version in PDF and HTML format, in order to ensure their permanent reading over time, despite the technological changes that may occur.
Each published article is assigned a DOI identifier, managed by Crossref, thus guaranteeing the permanent location of the contents and we are particularly interested in having a unique identifier for researchers, which is why we promote the use of ORCID as a researcher ID.
In addition, we have a BACKUP backup of the entire system every 30 days, in a replica located outside our headquarters facilities, in order to guarantee a quick recovery in case of an incident or disaster.
However, we are making progress in our preservation policy, and we hope to incorporate LOCKSS, an open source programme developed by the Stanford University Library, into the next OJS version update scheduled for the beginning of 2024, which allows the preservation of journal content by continuously validating the records, so that any damaged or lost record can be restored independently of the medium, thus guaranteeing that the stored digital information can remain and continue to be used in the future.
