Las tablas de la Nhanes como referencia para la selección de futbolistas: una perspectiva a partir de variables antropométricas

Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare the weight and height anthropometric variables according to the NHANES reference. To carry this out, 161 young soccer players from the Corinthians Sports Club in Sao Paulo, Brazil, between the ages of 11 to 16 were evaluated. The anthropometric variables evaluated were body mass (kg) and height (cm). For the analysis of the results, the descriptive statistics of the arithmetic mean (X), standard deviation (SD) and coefficient of variation (CV) were used, and for determining the significant age group differences, the ANOVA was applied with a probability of (p < 0.001). The results show that athletes from 11 to 16 show rising growth curves when compared with the p50 reference percentile: The young men studied are aboye those values. It is therefore concluded that the soccer players are heavier and taller than the reference.
