History of the Journal
The Revista Ciencias de la Actividad Física UCM (REVISTACAF.UCM), was created in 1998 (printed ISSN: 0717-408X), with one publication per year in printed format, starting in 2013 (digital ISSN: 0719-4013 ) becomes a continuous semi-annual and online publication, ceasing to be published in printed format. The REVISTACAF.UCM belongs to the Department of Physical Activity Sciences of the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the Catholic University of Maule, whose objective is to “contribute to the knowledge that is generated as a result of scientific research. Prioritizes original articles so that they are used as references in university classrooms and specialized laboratories for the development of Physical Activity sciences in the country and the world."
At the beginning of 1985, the School of Physical Education of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile Maule Regional Headquarters created the Editorial Committee of the Journal of Pedagogy and Sports Sciences, however, that task could not be completed successfully since it did not No issue of the magazine was published. 13 years passed since then, when the academic team of the physical education school took up that challenge, editing the Revista de Ciencias de la Actividad Física UCM, in this way and starting in October 1998 and with the ISSN 0717- 408X begins with the national and international dissemination of academic work on subjects related to the sciences of Physical Activity with one publication per year. Therefore, it becomes from that moment on, the official organ of the School of Physical Education and in 2013 it moved to its digital format ISSN: 0719-4013 and with two volumes per year. It is a non-profit, serial publication, of the primary dissemination type; focused on monographs, scientific articles, experiences and research.
Since its creation in 1998, REVISTACAF.UCM has had only four editors-in-chief, who in some cases in its history have also acted as directors of the magazine. In its first period it was directed by Manuel Herrera Blanco as responsible editor, then followed by Marcelo Valdés Arriagada, Rodrigo Vargas Vitoria and currently César Faúndez Casanova.
